Imperialism had a negative effect on the Philippines
I think that Imperialism had a negative effect on the Philippines. Because of Imperialism, the South East Asian island lost its culture, its land, and its people. You can barely see the scraped culture that is left of the country. So many people lost their homes and families during this time. If America did not westernize the Philippines, who knows where the small island would be.
Before Imperialism the country had about 7.5 million people according to https://prezi.com/ronsaz-eafxv/american-imperialism-in-philippines/ , and had about 43 different ethnic groups and 87 different languages. All those languages disappeared with the people who spoke it. All those sacred languages destroyed after invasions of other nations. They forced the people of the island to speak differently as if it was the "right" way, than how they were raised to speak. Their culture and variety of languages are no longer living like it should.
